About the Residency Programs.
Local Residency
Flower Buds 956 Residency is a program for artists living and working in the Rio Grande Valley and the greater 956 area. The goal for this residency is to connect artists in our region with each other to live, work, build bonds and develop professional practices as artists. We provide a professional development workshop and critique as we work towards putting together an art exhibition and all that entails.
Visiting Artist Residency
The Visiting Artist Residency is a program that invites three artists from outside the Rio Grande Valley in addition to one local artist fellow to share to their art practices with our community. They live and work in Brownsville, Texas for 5-weeks while providing artist talks, workshops, pop up exhibitions and other programming in collaborations with different institutions and other local organizations during their stay.
Exhibitions/Events
We recognize the importance of providing a platform for our community to have their voices heard, so part of our mission is to supply artists in the Rio Grande Valley opportunities to exhibit their work and share their vision. We proudly host art related events such as solo exhibitions, group exhibitions, workshops, and other events that contribute to the growth and betterment of our culture and community in Brownsville
